Associate Director of Human Resources Kristi Yowell was appointed inaugural president of the Maryland chapter of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR). Kristi aided in the creation of the chapter alongside HR colleagues from across the state.

Human Resources’ Employment Classification and Compensation Manager Jennifer Stano spoke at the chapter’s initial meeting on June 16, where she presented an Affirmative Action plan overview.

Congrats to Kristi and Jen for their initiative and outstanding leadership!

Facilities Maintenance Mechanic Marvin Edens will be retiring after 41 years of service to Towson University.  His retirement date is effective July 1, 2015.  Drop him a line to wish him well on his new venture!

Earlier this week, TUPD Officer Wayne Warnick was presented with the Above and Beyond Award at the 5th annual Mid-Atlantic INLET’s: Violent Crimes & Terrorism Trends seminar. Officer Warnick was nominated by TUPD Police Chief Bernard Gerst for his investigative actions during the fall of 2014.  Thank you Officer Warnick for all you do to keep the TU community safe!

Did you know?

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood.  Fortunately, A&F hosted one of the largest summer blood drives earlier this month.  A total of 50 donors registered for the event and 47 pints of blood were collected, exceeding the American Red Cross’ goal of 32 pints.

“Please extend a thank you to all your donors,” said American Red Cross Donor Recruitment Representative Betsy Draper. “They are all silent hometown heroes! Saving up to 141 lives is a great way to start the summer.”

Fourth of July 15


Celebrate Independence Day at the annual Towson 4th of July Parade from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 4. As the leading sponsor of the parade, TU will be an integral part of the day’s celebrations.  See if you can spot the Stephens Hall float as TU’s marching band and Doc lead TU parade marchers throughout downtown Towson!

Looking to stay healthy this summer? Then hop on the free shuttle to Towson Farmer’s Market during your lunch break and pick up some organic, locally grown foods.  The shuttle will run every Thursday throughout the summer between noon and 1:03 p.m.  Check out the shuttle schedule for a list of shuttle stops and specific pick-up and drop-off times.
