PNC Bank will open a full-service branch on the first floor of the University Union this August. The bank will take over the space formerly occupied by Capital One, whose contract with the university expired this summer.
“After Capital One’s contract expired, the university solicited offers for the space from several leading banking institutions,” said Bob Campbell, Finance and Information Systems Director for Auxiliary Services. “PNC offered the best all-around service for the campus’s needs and was selected as the new provider.”
The PNC branch is scheduled to open August 25 and will offer students, faculty and staff a host of personal banking products and services. Six on-campus ATM locations will be available this fall in the University Union, Administration Building, Newell Dining Hall, Towson Center, Hawkins Hall and West Village Commons. Within the coming weeks PNC will also launch a customized website, www.pnc.com\towson, where TU customers can fill out account applications and access financial education information. According to Bob, PNC also has specific financial management programs geared toward college students.
“They have a virtual wallet program that helps college students improve their money management skills, and provides mobile and text banking options,” Bob said.
TU customers who open new accounts with PNC this fall will receive one free incoming wire transfer per monthly statement cycle and one free courtesy overdraft fee waiver during the year after account opening. A Capital One ATM will be available in the University Union until August 2012 in order to aid in the transition.
