Financial Services won the National Student Employment Week Banner Contest last month, earning extra points for their creativity and student employee focus. The contest was judged by Creative Services. Take a look at their winning banner.

Events
The 2014 Employee Appreciation Picnic is TODAY, Friday, May 30 from 4 to 8 p.m. on Burdick Field.

More than 1,200 athletes will compete in a variety of events on campus during the Maryland Special Olympics June 6 – 8. Come watch for a healthy dose of heartwarming inspiration.

An exhibition of travel-inspired student artwork opens June 12 with a 7:30 p.m. reception in the Center for the Arts Atrium. The artwork is a tribute to the late professor Ron Cubbison, whose fellowship enabled the travel of five TU art students.

Did You Know

University Fleet Coordinator Deb Boettcher is retiring today after 30 years with the university. Stop by the General Services conference room between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. today to wish her goodbye! We will miss you, Deb!

Announcements

The TUPD has received a $10,000 grant from BG&E to place basic life support kits in the department’s vehicles. This is the first corporate grant given to the TUPD.

Events

TU is participating in RecycleMania from February 2 to March 29. The competition pits more than 400 colleges and universities nationwide against one another to see who can have the highest recycling percentages and the least amount of waste. Results will be announced in April.

The A&F Annual Meeting and ACE Award Presentation will be held from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, December 18 in the West Village Commons Ballrooms.

The Campus Holiday Celebration hosted by President Maravene Loeschke will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, December 12 in the University Union’s Potomac Lounge.

Awards & Accreditations

Nick Gingue, Associate Director of Event and Conference Services, won the Rising Star Scholarship from the National Association of College Auxiliary Services (NACAS). The Award is given to four Auxiliary Services employees nationwide who have provided excellent services and demonstrated the ability and desire to excel in the field of auxiliary services management. As part of the award, Nick received $1,000 to attend the NACAS Annual Conference. The award is sponsored by The Spelman & Johnson Group.
